Depending on the kind of motor design being used, various topologies exist, such as a DC motor requires an H-bridge if being driven bidirectional and half bridge if unidirectional, a brushless DC motor requires a three-phase bridge, and a stepper motor requires a dual H-bridge. This presentation will not explain how these various topologies work, but ST does have solutions for all these motors.
