The engineer also acknowledges the need to easily identify A and B side power in the back of the cabinet, and Panduit addresses this by offering color cable ties, color market straps or color power cords (both locking and non-locking). The engineer believes using color power cords solves this problem in a very elegant and efficient way. By recognizing that in a typical vertical PDU one will have 24+ power cords going from one side of the rack to the power supply of the IT equipment, colors allow for very easy distinction between A and B side power, while still enabling the end user to procure a standard off-the-shelf PDU.
