Panduit G5 PDUs offer two different solutions to the leading cause for equipment downtime: accidental disconnects. The first thing to do is to recognize what causes these disconnects. It is the effect of vibration and gravity over time pulling on the IT equipment power cables, which are typically all dressed together for a neat and tidy installation. Panduit’s low cost options (the C13 and C19 outlets) have been provisioned with an integrated recessed slot to accept a non-conductive cable tie. This permanently negates the effects of vibration and gravity for the cord connected to the PDU. However, there is labor involved in wrapping the cable tie and this doesn’t secure the power cord on the equipment end. For this problem, Panduit has created locking cords which not only click into place in the Gen 5 PDU outlets, requiring no additional labor, but also feature a universal locking mechanism which locks to the IT equipment for positive and permanent cable retention on both ends. The Gen 5 dual locking power cords come in packs of 10, with colors ranging from Red, Blue, and Black, and 2, 3, 4 & 6 foot lengths.
