TDK’s Soft Termination capacitors are offered in EIA case sizes ranging from 0805 to 3025, voltage ratings from 16V to 630V, and capacitance ratings up to 100mF. It is available in temperature characteristics such as X7R, X7S, and X7T. The Soft Termination capacitor is effective against solder cracking due to temperature shock. The shear force of standard termination after temperature shock test decreases significantly with increasing cycles. However, the Soft Termination capacitor retains the shear force because it absorbs temperature shock. On a cross-sectional view, the Soft Termination shows little damage of the solder joint.
