Universally among all MLCC suppliers, the single most prevalent reason for a customer reported defect is due to mechanical cracking. Cracking can occur due to reasons such as board layout, assembly process problems, solder fillet variation, and excessive vibration. Due to such high occurrence of cracking issues, Samsung offers the soft termination MLCC as a solution. Soft termination increases the bending strength for MLCCs and significantly reduces the occurrence of mechanical cracking.
