Renesas RAA2P4200 and RAA2P32xx magnet-free, inductive position sensor ICs can be used for absolute rotary, linear, or arc position sensing in industrial applications. They operate on the principle of eddy currents to detect the position of a simple metallic target that is moving above a set of coils, comprising one transmitter coil and two receiver coils. Inductive sensing technology is expected to replace magnetic technology in various applications by providing much higher accuracy, flexibility, easy integration into system solutions, and improvements in performance, reliability, and cost.
