The FTDI HP series high-speed USB bridge offers enhanced power delivery (PD) functionality
The
FTDI HP series offers high-performance USB interface ICs designed for demanding embedded and industrial applications. It provides a two-in-one solution that seamlessly integrates USB Type-C® with enhanced PD and data bridging. This unique feature enables higher power availability, allowing either at the connected Host PC to draw more power or to provide power to charge the Host PC.
Supporting USB to UART, SPI, and I2C protocols, the HP family enables flexible, low-latency, and power-efficient USB connectivity for modern system designs.
Features
- Up to 2x USB PD 3.0 ports. One channel is for power and data, while the other channel is for power only
- Supports 5 V/3 A, 9 V/3 A, 12 V/3 A, 15 V/3 A, 20 V/3 A, and more power profiles
- Entire USB protocol handled on the chip. No USB-specific firmware programming required
- USB 2.0 high speed (480 Mbits/second) and full speed (12 Mbits/second) compatible
- Single chip USB to up to four data ports
- Two multi-protocol synchronous serial engines (MPSSE) on channel A and channel B, to simplify synchronous serial protocol (USB to JTAG, I2C, SPI, or bit-bang) design
- RS232/RS422/RS485 UART transfer data rate up to 12 Mbaud
- Low operating USB suspend current
- Extended -40°C to +85°C industrial operating temperature range
