The Energy Watchdog is a simple yet powerful demo tool that shows the MSP430AFE253 device, a programmable analog front end microcontroller to perform energy measurement. In addition to energy, the Energy Watchdog measures AC voltage, current and frequency, active power, reactive power, apparent power and power factor. There is provision to interface various communication modules such as RS232, ZigBee, sub-1 GHz 802.15.4 and wireless M-bus. These interfaces are isolated to ensure safety during communication.
