Developers have multiple options for trying the MSP430AFE. They can order the MSP-TS430PW24 which is a standalone socket based target board used to program and debug the MSP430 in-system through the JTAG interface or the Spy Bi-Wire (2-wire JTAG) protocol. The development board supports all MSP430AFE2xx Flash parts in a 24-pin TSSOP package. Also available is the MSP-FET430U24 which  is a powerful flash emulation tool (FET) that includes the hardware and software required to quickly begin application development on the MSP430 MCU. It includes a socket based target board (MSP-TS430PW24) and a USB debugging interface (MSP-FET430UIF) used to program and debug the MSP430.
