In Summary, the MSP430AFE2xx is a programmable AFE MCU that designers can program with their own metrology software. In addition, they have the flexibility to partition, add/delete functionalities and communication protocols, as required by metrology solutions. The MSP-TS430PW24 is a standalone socket based target board used to program and debug the MSP430. Also available is the MSP430AFE EVM which is a complete metrology system. The Energy Watchdog tool is a fully functional smart plug demo tool which allows quick and efficient development to monitor electricity consumption for any device. It plugs into the wall and features a receptacle of its own to connect to any appliance or electrical device. Texas Instruments believes in providing complete solutions and hence provides the Energy Library software suite for development. This library provides easy-to-use code for developers who need to perform standard tasks without needing to know all the details behind each peripheral of the MCU. Featured output results from this library include voltage and current both peak and rms, energy and power (reactive/active/apparent), power factor, temperature, frequency and tamper detection.
